We’re no stranger to going trigger-happy with our smartphone cams for Instagram, but few of us know the history of cameras. A dream for photographers and antique lovers alike, the Vintage Camera Museum is Singapore’s only vintage camera museum and it’s dedicated entirely to antique photography.
Along Kampong Glam, it houses antiques like pigeon spy cams used during WWI and II, as well as a 6-metre long Mammoth Camera. There’s also a fun Click Art zone where you can get creative snapping perspective shots with hand-painted wall art.
You can pick up and play around with cameras here – there’s a miscellany of over 1,000 contraptions, from tiny 11g cameras to massive 6m-long monstrosities. Go wild fiddling with spy cameras, pigeon cameras, and even cameras disguised as everyday items like walking sticks and cigarette lighters. Turns out, things actually do get cooler than the latest 4K smartphone cam in town.
